In 2023 I (Sasha Kolos) watched the city crews in Edmonton cut down century-old trees right in front of my building. It hit me as a warning: a city without trees means hotter summers, harsher winters, and quieter mornings with fewer birds around. I wanted to document Edmonton as it really is, and to look honestly at what it is up against.
I found the right people quickly, Ashley and David, and we started a small team, SKATRD, named from our initials. We applied to Telus StoryHive, received the grant, and made our documentary series "Risk It, Edmonton." That project taught us more than we expected and set the standard for the work we still care about: honest, and worth someone's time.
SKATRD Russia grew as a natural continuation of Ilan's creative projects. Experience in filming, music, design, and visual work gradually grew into a production studio with its own style, approach, and principles.
SKATRD keeps expanding and refining what it does. We develop our current directions and take on new ones - learning, exploring, and experimenting. Every project becomes a step forward, where we rethink our approach and raise our own standards.
Today SKATRD is a dynamically growing production ecosystem. We create projects that help people, brands, and companies stand out, convey their values, tell their story, and get real results.
